Mission Statement of the New Jersey Association for Music Therapy
The New Jersey Association for Music Therapy strives to provide opportunities for connection and support among music therapists and their communities.
The NJAMT encourages the involvement of its entire membership in working toward the following:
Building relationships with and educating:
- Legislators and policy makers
- Potential employers of music therapists
- Colleges and universities offering music therapy degree programs
- Professional organizations in the human services field
- Organizations representing consumers of music therapy
By creating opportunities for:
- Networking between music therapists in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania
- Building an alliance with other creative arts therapists (particularly through the New Jersey Coalition of Arts Therapy Associations)
- Continuing education
- Mentorship for young professional music therapists and students enrolled in music therapy degree programs, as well as high school students who express an interest in the profession
- Advocacy training
